Concentration in Art and Culture, Department of Fine Arts, Joshibi University of Art and DesignShe belongs to the Japanese Art History Seminar and Color Science Seminar.ALExANDER ZOWONu白と黒で表現されたこの作品は、「connections」のテーマに沿ったいくつかのモチーフで構成されている。作品に散りばめられたモチーフの解釈を見ていこう。まずは乗り物についてだ。電車や飛行機は、人や物を乗せ、場所と場所とを繋ぐものとして用いられている。点線で結ばれた人間は、電話をしている。携帯電話から発せられた電波は、彼らの間にある距離を一気に縮め、声や想いを繋げている。そして、作品の右上を見ると、星座という繋がりも見て取れる。星座は、星と星との繋がりであり、本来遠くにあるはずの空間同士を客観的に繋ぐものでもある。作品から読み取れるこれらの「connection」は、とてもシンプルで明快である。しかし、作品を見てからそれらを解釈するのに幾分か時間がかかった人は少なくないだろう。何故なら、考え抜かれた構図がこの作品をより複雑に、より面白くしているからだ。M.C.エッシャーに触発されて作品造りに取り組んだという作者は、その言葉通り、作品に少しの違和感を持たせている。空間の歪みや反転を利用しているのだ。歪んだ空間の先でも巡り続ける電車や、反転した世界でも繋がる電波は、隔たりのない自由な繋がりを表現しているのだと思う。Rachel DENTON SNAPE『Euclidean Travel』2020年 スチレンボードRachel DENTON SNAPEEuclidean Travel2020 Foam BoardAlexander ZOWONU / Alexander ZOWONU アーティスト / Artistイギリス レスターシャー州 メルトン・モーブレー出身 ラフバラ大学 基礎研究コース 3Dデザイン領域Born in Nottingham, England. 3D Design Specialism, Foundaion Studies, Loughborough UniversityExpressed in black and white, this artwork is composed of several motifs in line with the theme of "connections".Let's look at the interpretation of the motifs scattered in the artwork. First, about the vehicles. Trains and planes are used to carry people and things and connect places to places. People connected by a dotted line are on the phone. Radio waves emitted from mobile phones shorten the distance between them, connecting voices and feelings. And if you look at the upper right of the artwork, you can also see the connection of constellations. A constellation is a connection between stars, and also an objective connection between spaces that should be far away. These "connections" that can be read in the artwork are very simple and clear. However, many people may take some time to interpret them when viewing the work, because the well-thought-out composition makes this artwork complex and interesting. The artist says he was inspired by M.C. Escher, and added a sense of strangeness to the work using the distortion and inversion of space.
