「Connections」と聞いて何を思い浮かべるだろうか。繋がり、継続、通信や関係など、どことなく人と人の繋がりをイメージする人が多いのではないか。今のコロナの状況では特に。作品の題名は『Contemporary』、現代の人と人の繋がりに注目して描かれた。アーティスト重村文香は、「Connections」を見えない握手のような感覚だと答えた。作品のサブテーマは｢縁｣。実家の庭に生えた木々からインスピレーションを受けたという。地中に広く根付いた木の根のように、一度繋がった縁はそう簡単に伐れない。どんなに離れていても記憶に残るし、どこかで繋がっているんだという思いが込められている。盛り上がるように重ねられた柔らかな絵の具のマチエール、複雑に捻れ絡み合う表現は力強く、生命の逞しさを感じさせる。人との接触がほぼ途絶えた今、どうしようもなく孤独に感じる日々が続いている。作品はその孤独感を柔らかく包みこみ、1人じゃないと、今までの関係が消え去った訳では無いと、そっと私たちの背中を優しく支えてくれる。36 重村 文香『Contemporary』2020年 キャンバス、油絵重村 文香 / SHIGEMURA Ayaka アーティスト / Artist日本 茨城県出身 女子美術大学 アート・デザイン表現学科 ヒーリング表現領域Born in Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. Inspired by the trees that grow in her parents' garden, this work is a reminder that, like the roots of a tree that take root widely in the ground, once a connection is made, it is not easy to break, and no matter how far apart we are, we remember and are connected somewhere.The soft impression of the paint applied layer upon layer as if it were rising, and the intricately twisted and intertwined shapes are powerful and give a sense of the resilience of life.
