6 芸術文化専攻のイギリス研修（2年生対象）は、１ヶ月の滞英中に必ずや自己成長をもたらすものとして、本専攻の目玉授業となっています。しかし、2020年初春を境に、新型コロナウィルス感染症の世界的大流行によって国際社会は一変。2年間にわたって研修を延期せざるを得ない状況が続いています。ただ、女子美でも2020年度の前期授業がすべてオンラインに切り替わったように、世界を繋ぐインターネットを介して、ラフバラ大学での研修プログラムのうち「英会話クラス」と「ポストカード展覧会」をオンラインで実施することにしました。展覧会は、毎年テーマを決めて、研修先のラフバラ大学と女子美の学生が作成したポストカードを、ラフバラ大のギャラリーで一同に展示するもので、その一環として芸文生は双方の学生の作品を各一点選び、作者へのインタビューをもとにキャプションを付して別途展示し、英語でギャラリートークを行います。本書で紹介するのは、2021年3月からラフバラ大学HPに「オンラインポストカード展覧会」としてアップされたものです。人の移動を伴わず世界中からアクセス可能なオンライン展覧会は、コロナ禍でこそ生まれた展覧手法であり、今後コロナが終息しても展示形態としてスタンダード化されていくことでしょう。奇しくも、今回のテーマは「connections」(繋がり)。芸文生はオンラインでの遣り取りを通して、例年に勝るとも劣らない展覧会に仕立てました。しかし、残念ながらオンラインによるインタビューだけでは十分に親交を深めるまでに及ばなかったようです。ラフバラ生との真の交流実現のため、一日でも早く現地での研修が再開できることを祈るばかりです。The Overseas Art Studies Trip of the Concentration in Arts and Culture (for second-year students) is the centerpiece of this major, as it surely brings about self-growth during the one-month stay in the UK. However, from the beginning of spring 2020, the international community has changed completely due to the global pandemic of COVID-19. The situation continues and we have had to postpone the trip for two years.However, just as all the first semester classes in 2020 were switched to online at Joshibi University, it was decided that the ‘English Conversation Classes’ and ‘Postcard Exhibition’ of the study program with Loughborough University would be held online via the Internet that connects the world.In the exhibition, the theme is decided every year, and usually the postcards created by the students of Loughborough University and Joshibi University of Art and Design are exhibited together at a gallery in Loughborough University. Students select one postcard from each university, add information based on interviews with the artists, display them in a separate space, and give gallery talks in English.This catalog however introduces the ‘Online Postcard Exhibition’ that was uploaded to the Loughborough University website from March 2021. The online exhibition, which can be accessed from all over the world without the need for travel, is an exhibition method that was initiated due to COVID-19, and will be standardized as an exhibition form in addition to gallery exhibitions even after the pandemic ends in the future.Strangely, the theme this time is ‘connections’. Through online communication, the Art and Culture students have created an exhibition that is as good as in previous years, unfortunately, online interviews alone did not seem to be enough to deepen friendships.
