Art in the Time of COVID-19 : TAN Kerun79父は、私と母に油絵を描くことも教えてくれました。 COVID-19のvery important to our life. Art can be used to regulate people’s emotions and enrich our lives. It can be said that art is indispen-sable to an interesting lifeIn April 2020, because the COVID-19 situation in Japan became very serious, I was unable to return to Japan and had to study university courses on the Internet. In that semester, we had to learn to use two new types of design software to complete the course. It was the first time for me to use that software. Also, there was a lot of Katakana used in the software, and it was a very difficult challenge for me at that time. I couldn’t keep up with the learning progress. University teachers were very kind, often tutoring me after class, but I still felt a lot of pressure. So I contacted a friend who studied design in China and asked her to teach me that design software in a coffee shop. She also told me that because of COVID-19, more people watch videos at home, such as tiktok and Youtube. Many art galleries and schools use the online model of viewing exhibitions, and she has helped video platforms and websites, among others, with many designs as an amateur designer, and earned a substantial income. She says that if it weren’t for COVID-19, she wouldn’t have had so much free time if she had to go to school in Beijing, and COVID-19 allowed her more time to design more work. Because of COVID-19, many people were forced to stay at home, while at the same time more people used the Internet, online video viewing sites and the game industry developed, and the price of Nintendo’s consoles and game software shot up. COVID-19 caused many people to lose their jobs, but there were more jobs for designers and editors. Indeed, because of COVID-19, I happened to stay with my parents in China, and I hadn’t experienced being around them for a long time to study since I started kindergarten. Before COVID-19, I was studying alone in Japan at university, and although I was free, I was lonely and had to deal with many daily chores by myself. When I was with my parents, I had to attend class at 9:00 a.m. JST six days a week, which is 8:00 a.m. CST, but I was never late or absent because every morning at 7:30 a.m., my mother would bring breakfast to my room. Every day started in such a happy way that I felt more efficient in stud-ying and my body was filled with more happy energy every day
