Not being able to go to school and working from home became the norm, and COVID drove us to a closed life. At first, I was worried about how to get involved in art in this situation. But I’m glad I was absorbed in what I liked while I couldn’t go out during COVID. Because of this emergency, I think the vicious cycle of being unnecessarily tired and unable to do anything will have terrible consequences. Thanks to COVID, my family has changed a bit. When I heard about art as a kid, my family and school teachers often said, “You cannot eat art.” I wanted to deny it, but I was disappointed that I couldn’t put my feelings into words. But after the COVID happened, my parents started enjoying entertainment such as manga and anime. Seeing this change, I began to think about the impor-tance of the existence of art. From this experience, I started thinking about the need for art. COVID has suspended museum activities around the world. They are usually crowded with tourists, but in the news they looked quite different and empty, so I realized that I could recognize people and see them in another world. I could see the buildings more than usual. Last year I felt the privatization of art. The first thing I noticed was that museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art participated in Nintendo’s popular game Animal Crossing: The New Clothing Forest, making the collection available in-game. At the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a two-dimen-sional code was prepared on the official website, posted more than 400,000 works on “Aim”, and started a service that allows you to freely download digitized content in the game. In addition, the views of museums are diversifying. COVID suspended access to all public facilities, extended the muse-um’s planned exhibition closures, and closed theaters / cine-mas and art galleries / museums before the stay-at-home order.
