7今年度のテーマを決めた際、私たちはこの言葉のもつ意味、そしてこの言葉がもたらす関連性と共通性を予測できませんでした。このコロナ禍の時代に、私たちの間の繋がりを評価（大切に）し、祝うことは大変重要なことだと感じます。日本にある女子美術大学との継続的な共同企画で、女子美術大学のキュレーターの学生たちとラフバラ大学の学生がマッチングし、作品の解説や考察を共有しました。今年はラフバラ現地での研修が制限されたため、学生や先生方はネット上のビデオ会議アプリを用いて集合し、グループを作って作業したり、学生のスケッチブックのプレゼンや作品にまつわるアイデア、議論などを個々の学生間で共有しました。国際的なコラボレーション、共有の為の直接的な繋がりが増えたことは今年の予想外の明るい兆し（希望）であり、より充実した体験を私たちに与えてくれました。もちろん、リンダ・デニス先生や女子美術大学の学生やスタッフの皆さんも、私たちの継続的な関係を実りあるものにしてくれました。このプロジェクトと展示会を開催した、前向きで、そしてプログラム設立に関わった熱心なスタッフたちの継続的なサポートと善意に感謝したいと思います。When we selected our theme for the year ahead we could not have predicted the significance of our chosen word and the relevance and resonance it would hold for us all this year. In this challenging time, it has very much been about valuing and celebrating the connections between us.In our continued collaboration and connection with Joshibi University in Japan their curation students have connected a Joshibi and a Loughborough image and shared their pairings, curation commentary and insights.With our usual Loughborough experience somewhat restricted this year we have shared creative connections and brought students and staff together with live links in our virtual workshop morning/evening where responses, development work, sketch books and ideas have been investigated, discussed and shared with groups and between individual students.The additional opportunities and direct connections for international collaboration and sharing have been our unexpected ‘silver lining’ this year and given us an enhanced experience and creative ways to connect.This remote method of achieving personal input and supporting valuable individual student connections will be something we are sure we will wish to embed and extend in future visits.We would like to thank the incredible team of knowledgeable, positive and tirelessly enthusiastic staff here on our Foundation programme for their continued support and good will which makes this project and exhibition possible.
