cONNEcTED ARTConnected Art : HANAWA Kotomi97新型コロナウイルスが引き起こしたパンデミックは、世界中の人々に大きな影響を与えました。外出規制、時差出勤、授業や会議のリモート化など、私たちの生活様式は一変し、人々の距離が開き、これまでの常識が通用しない世の中になってしまいました。アートの世界でもそれは同じです。規制や突然の混乱によって多大な影響を受けています。しかし、大きな声を出せない今、これまでとは違う形で"今の状況"や"思い"が発信されたり、コロナ禍でも活動するための新しい様式が生まれたりと、アーティストやその活動が、時代に沿うように変化を見せつつあります。これまでアート活動は、戦争や災害など、人々が危機に直面した時も変わらずに盛んでした。その時代や状況によってアートに込められた意味は様々ですが、時代の流れによって変化し、時には新しい形を生み出しながら今の時代に受け継がれています。今回のパンデミックで生まれた新たなアートの形も、その変化の流れの一つなのだと思います。今回は、これまでとは異なる様式で運営される美術館や、新たなアート活動の在り方など、アート界に起きた変化を、"connections"という言葉に焦点を当てて記述していきます。まずは、新型コロナウイルスがアートの世界に与えた影響についてです。マスク着用や除菌消毒、ソーシャルディスタンスを保つことが当たり前になってきた中でも、私ははじめ、このパンデミックがアート活動に与える影響は大きくないと思っていました。なぜなら、殆どの場合、作品制作は一人で行い、美術鑑賞も比較的静かな行為だからです。しかし、徐々に行動が制限され、不自由を感じることが多くなったことで、アート活動とは想像よりも人と人との繋がりが多いのだと気が付きました。モデルの依頼やストリートアート、作品のキュレーションや展覧会・個展の開催など、人との繋がりが途絶えたことでこれらの活動が少なくなり、改めてパンデミックの影響の大きさを感じました。実際に、私たちがイギリスと共同でポストカード展覧会を開催するにあたって、アーティストとの交流が不可欠である作品のキュレーション作りや展覧会準備などに苦労しました。コロナ禍であるThe pandemic caused by COVID-19 has had a huge impact on people all over the world. With restrictions on going out, staggered work hours, remote classes and meetings, our life-styles have changed drastically, people have become more distant from each other, and conventional wisdom is no longer valid. It is the same in the art world. We have been greatly affected by the regulations and the sudden confu-sion. However, now that we are unable to speak out loudly, artists and their activities are changing to keep up with the times, as they communicate their “current situation” and “thoughts” in a different way than before, and a new style of activity is born for the COVID-19 disaster. In the past, art activities have continued to flourish even when people were faced with crises such as wars and disasters. The mean-ings behind the art have varied, but each time they have changed, sometimes creating new forms that have been passed on to the present generation. I believe that the new form of art created by the recent pandemic is one of these changes.In this article, I will focus on the word “connec-tions” to describe the changes that have occurred in the art world, such as museums operating in a different style and new ways of conducting art activities.First, let’s talk about the impact COVID-19 has had on the art world. Even though wearing masks, disinfecting, and maintaining a social distance have become the norm, I initially thought that this pandemic would not have a signif-icant impact on art activities. This is because most of us work alone, and art appreciation is a relatively quiet activity. However, as my activities gradually became more and more restricted and inconvenient, I realized that art activities involve more human connections than I had imagined. From commissioning models and street art to curating artworks and holding exhibitions and solo shows, these activities became fewer and fewer as my connections with people were cut off, and I once again felt the impact of the pandem-ic. In fact, when we organized the postcard exhibition in collaboration with the UK, we had a hard time curating the works and preparing for the exhibition. This is because it is essential to interact with the artists. Now that I am a COVID-19 disaster survivor, I have been thinking about art more and more, and I have realized that these are activities that 塙 琴光HANAWA kOTOMI繋がるアート
