She is enrolled in the Visual Communication Specialism, in the Art & Design Foundation Studies Course at Loughborough University.She usually creates works using photography and ceramics.セリーナ・シュナウドSelina SCHNAUDT‘Cultivate’ is a word that has both agricultural meanings such as plowing the land and growing, and internal meanings such as learning skills and education. Selina SCHNAUDT’s artwork “Growth Rings” was inspired by the image of a tree stump. Selina interpreted the inner meaning of ‘Cultivate’ as human growth can be achieved through time, and used natural things from the agricultural meaning of ‘Cultivate’ to express this in her work. The process of growth and development is symbolized by the rings of the tree, that are formed year by year.The work is monochromatic based on Selina’s aesthetic sensibility, and is framed to create a sense of movement and connection, so the growth rings of the six trees seem to resonate and enhance each other. Although it may not be the artist’s intention, this work reminds us that time and presence of others are necessary for inner growth. It reminds us of what we need, which we had almost lost due to the COVID pandemic.耕すことや栽培するなど農業的意味合いと技能や教養を身につけるといった人の内面的な意味合いを持つ言葉が「カルティベイト」である。セリーナ・シュナウドの作品『Growing Rings』は切り株をイメージして制作された。セリーナは「カルティベイト」を人の成長は時間によって達成可能であると解釈し、それを表現するために「カルティベイト」の農業的な意味合いを作品に使用した。成長し発展していく過程が年単位で刻まれていく木の年輪に、それを象徴させて表現している。セリーナの美的感覚からモノクロで制作され、動きと繋がりを感じさせるために画面を縁取った作品は、6つの木の年輪それぞれが互いに共鳴し合い高めあっていくようにも見える。作者は意図していないかもしれないが、内面の成長には時間と他者の存在が必要である。そう感じさせてくれるこの作品は、コロナ禍で失いかけていた自分に必要なものを思い出させてくれる。Growing RingsGrowing Rings
