From this, it seems that he tried to show the word ‘Cultivate’ itself rather than express its meaning. The letters may be just the answer to the expression.When you see this graphic work, it easily stands out as a work because it has a color scheme of yellow and black. The composition is made up of lines and angular figures, reminiscent of electronic circuits.Since the word ‘Cultivate’ is a word, it naturally has a meaning. However, when I looked at his work, I thought that it was possible to express it from a unique perspective rather than expressing its meaning as such. 「カルティベイト」を辞書で調べてみると「耕す」「培う」「養う」と言った、物を自らの手で為すという意味が込められている。しかしこちらの作品にはそういう意図が含まれているようには思われず「カルティベイト」の言葉そのものを作者独自の視点で表現しているように見える。作品の大部分は「カルティベイト」の頭文字の「C」と読めそうな抽象的な図形で占められ、その下に「C」を除いた「カルティベイト」のアルファベットが配置されている。このことから、意味というよりも「カルティベイト」という言葉自体を大々的に示そうとしたようだ。文字は表現の答え合わせにすぎないのかもしれない。この図形的な作品を目にした時、黄と黒という差異の際立つ配色がなされているため、作品として一際目につきやすい。構成は線や角張った図形によって成り立っており、電子回路を彷彿とさせる。「カルティベイト」という言葉は言葉である限り、当然意味はついてくる。しかし、彼の作品を見ていると、意味通りに表現されるのではなく、独自の視点で表現するのもアリだと思った。CultivateCultivate
