She enjoys sports such as horseback riding and skiing in nature.The word ‘Cultivate’, which was chosen as the theme of this year's exhibition, has various meanings, and literally means ‘to plow’. In addition, it is a very flexible word that can be interpreted in various ways, such as to nourish, foster, learn, and make. The students created works based on this highly imaginative word.The power of nature can be felt from the work of Lily NORSTRAND. It is a simple and peaceful work that captures the colors and scents of lush trees and the brilliance of the sun. Also, when viewed in parts, it is a fascinating work that makes you feel as if you are observing a small cell, or as if you are looking at the continent from far above. And we notice that the word ‘Cultivate’ is deeply related to nature. Expressive methods using various techniques such as stitching and drawing are used, and you can feel a commitment to texture. It can be said that it is a work that conveys the artist's own love for nature and her eye for space.今年の展覧会のテーマに選ばれた「カルティベイト」という言葉には様々な意味があり、直訳すると「耕す」という意味がある。またそのほかにも養う、培う、修める、作る等、様々な解釈が可能な非常に柔軟な言葉である。この想像性の高い言葉をテーマの基に、学生が作品の制作を行なった。リリー・ノーストランドの作品からは自然の力が感じられる。青々と茂った木々の色や香り、日差しの輝きを閉じ込めたような、素朴で安らかな気持ちにさせてくれる作品である。また、大陸をはるか上空から見ているようにも、小さな細胞を観察している錯覚にも陥る魅力的な作品である。そして「カルティベイト」という言葉は非常に自然と関連深い意味を持つ言葉であることに気づく。ステッチやドローイングなど様々な技法を使った表現がされており、テクスチャにもこだわりを感じられる。作家自身の自然を愛する想いや、空間への眼差しが伝わってくる作品であると言えるだろう。Textured NatureTextured Nature
