The word ‘Cultivate’ has not one, but multiple meanings. The multiple meanings of the word ‘Cultivate’ allow us to come up with a wide variety of ideas, and depending on how the artist receives it, a wide variety of works can be created.This work uses a reprographic technique called cyanotype, in which light and dark appear as shades of blue. The work lacks the variety of today's photographs, and is expressed in a single blue color. The title “dwr glas” means ‘blue water’ in Welsh, and combined with the reprographic technique, it gives a simple yet vivid impression, suitable for expressing ‘Cultivate’, which also can mean ‘to refine’.As stated at the beginning, ‘Cultivate’ has multiple meanings. We tend to think that one word has only one meaning, but by removing this bias and changing our perspective and thinking, the meaning of ‘Cultivate’ can be further developed.「カルティベイト」は、言葉の意味が1つではなく、複数ある。その複数の意味を持つ「カルティベイト」だからこそ、豊富なアイデアを思いつくことができ、アーティストの受け取り方多種多様な作品がうまれる。この作品は、光の明暗が青色の濃淡として現れるサイアノタイプという技法が使われている。現在の写真のような多彩さ無く、青一色で表現されている。タイトルの『dwr glas』はウェールズ語で「青い水」という意味があり、複写技術と相まって素朴ながら鮮やかな印象を受ける。「洗練させる」という意味もある「カルティベイト」に適している。最初に記したように「カルティベイト」は複数の意味を持っている。1つの単語に1つの意味しかないと思われがちだが、視点や思考を変えることで「カルティベイト」の意味はより一層発展することができる。dwr glasdwr glas
