This time I chose the topic “do femme fatales in Japanese art exist? And are there male versions depicted?” from my mind map. This theme is related to my interests in symbolism and fin de siècle art.In explaining this question, it is first necessary to mention what a femme fatale is. Femme fatale means "woman of destiny" in literal translation, but in case of when picked up as an art subject, it refers to “a woman whose encounters are predestined by fate, also who has a demonic charm that can spell doom for a man."Next, points that could be discussed through a review of the materials and examples are first, regarding to question of “do femme fatales in Japanese art exist?” In my mind, there are examples in Japanese art that could be considered femme fatale but, is it is true for the definition compared to the femme fatale depicted in Western art? Furthermore, regarding the question of “are there male versions of the femme fatale depicted?” I need to make the point that it is a mistake to think that there is a male version when the concept of femme fatale itself refers to a woman in the first place.Next, I will mention my hypothesis and conclusion at this time. As for the question “do femme fatales in Japanese art exist?” I think Kiyohime from "The tradition of Anchin and Kiyohime" as a Japanese Femme Fatale. She and the traditional tale, in my opinion, fit the definition of the femme fatale as compared to the image of the femme fatale found in the West. To explain why, let me give a brief description of Kiyohime. She falls in love at first sight with a monk named Anchin and promises to meet him again, but promises were broken and betrayed, so she got angry. Thereafter she chased and finally burned the monk to death. Thus, Kiyohime is a vindictive and cruel character. Do these characteristics fit the aforementioned definition of 59今回、私は以前書いたマインドマップの中から、「日本美術におけるファムファタールは存在するのか。そして、ファムファタールの男性版にあたるものは描かれているのか」という問いを選んだ。これは私の興味・関心の中の象徴主義や世紀末芸術に関連している。この問いを説明するにあたり、まずファムファタールとは何かに言及する必要がある。ファムファタールとは、直訳すると「運命の女」という意味になるが、芸術の題材として取り上げられる場合は、「出会いが運命によって定められていて、なおかつ男性にとって破滅を招くような魔性の魅力を持った女性」のことを指す。（註１）次に、資料・例の検討を通して議論し得るポイントについて、「日本美術におけるファムファタールは存在するのか」という問いに関しては、私の中で、日本美術や日本文化に見られる登場人物の中で、ファムファタールに該当するのではないかと考えているものがあるが、それは西洋美術に描かれたファムファタールと比較して、定義に合致しているかという点だ。そして、「ファムファタールの男性版にあたるものは描かれているのか」という問いに関しては、そもそもファムファタールという概念自体が女性を指すのに、男性版があると考えるのは間違いではないかという点を考えなくてはならない。次に、現時点での私の考える仮説と結論を述べる。「日本美術におけるファムファタールは存在するのか」という問いに関して、日本のファムファタール『安珍・清姫伝説』に登場する清姫を選出する。彼女と伝説の物語は、西洋に見られるファムファタール像と比較しても、その定義に合致すると私は考える。それはなぜか説明するために、清姫を簡単に説明すると、安珍という僧侶に一目惚れし再会を約束するものの約束を破られ裏切られたことに怒り、彼を追いかけた挙句に最後は焼き殺す小泉 美來KOIZUMI Miraiファムファタールの表現に関する考察A Study of Femme Fatale Expression
