We selected our theme for this year as we reflected on the positive covid silver-linings during last year’s project. Our aim is to celebrate and develop our shared global and individual lived experiences as we explore the visual possibilities and concepts of our theme. We continue to cultivate and enrich the collaboration and bonds between our two universities, our cohorts of students and personal friendships within our staff teams and student experiences.The responses exhibited have been developed by our Foundation students and the Joshibi students from Japan as a result of their investigation and exploration of the theme “cultivate”.Students in each of our pathway specialisms of Visual Communication, 3D Design, Textiles & Fashion, and Fine Art have undertaken personal, meaningful and considered research related to Cultivating processes, making techniques, materials investigations and a broad range of responses to personal and contextual research sources. Generating diverse perspectives and broad interpretations of the theme they have followed their personal curiosity and interests using related words to explore and extend their thinking. From physical cultivation and explorations with the earth, environment, ecosystems, nourishment and growth, and through consideration and cultivation of skills, materials, processes, techniques, refinement, enrichment, devotion, education, community and personal growth.In our continued collaboration with Joshibi University, our usual Loughborough experience has been restricted this year. We have shared creative connections and brought students & staff together with live links in our extended virtual workshop mornings/evenings. Responses, development work, sketch books and ideas have been investigated, discussed and shared with groups and between individual students. The additional opportunities and direct cultivation of this international collaboration and sharing has been supported by the LU English team to develop confidence in sharing curation statements and discussions. We have built on this strong covid ‘silver lining’ and the experience has doubled in growth this year giving us an additional workshop and ever more creative ways to connect. This remote method of achieving personal input and supporting valuable connections will be something I am sure we will wish to embed and cultivate in future visits. I would like to thank everyone for their continued support & good will which makes this project and exhibition possible, and who make our continued collaboration such a rewarding experience. 私たちは昨年度のプロジェクトにコロナ禍における新たな希望の兆しを見出したので、今年度のテーマを選びました。私たちの目的はテーマの視覚的可能性や概念を探究しながら、私たちが共有する世界と個人の生活上の経験を称え、発展させることです。私たちラフバラ大学と女子美術大学のコラボレーションと結びつきや、学生同士の協力関係、そしてスタッフチームや学生の体験を通じた個人的な友情を育て、より充実したものにしていきます。 展示された作品はラフバラファウンデーションコースの学生と日本の女子美術大学生が「カルティベイト」というテーマについて調査・探究した結果、生み出されたものです。 ヴィジュアルコミュニケーション、3Dデザイン、ファッションテキスタイル、ファインアートの各専攻の学生は、カルティベイトプロセス、技法、素材調査、個人的・文脈的調査資料への幅広い対応に関連して、個人的で有意義かつ熟考された調査を行いました。テーマについて幅広い解釈をし、様々な考えを展開することで、自身の考えを広げ探究する関連用語を用いて、自身の興味関心を追求しました。これは個人の成長と探究から 地球、環境、生態系、栄養と成長との物理的な耕作と探求から、スキル、材料、プロセス、技術、洗練、充実、コミュニティ、個人の成長までに及びました。 女子美術大学とのコラボレーションを続けながら、普段のラフバラ大学での体験はこの2年間制限されてきました。私たちは創造的な繋がりを共有し、朝夕のオンラインワークショップで学生とスタッフを結び付けました。みんなの反応や開発作業、スケッチブック、アイデアを調査し、グループや個人間で議論し共有しました。 さらに私たちの国際的な共同プロジェクトの機会と発展は、自信をもってキュレーションの決定と話合いを共有するためにラフバラ大学英語チームによってサポートされてきました。今年はワークショップも追加され、今まで以上にクリエイティブな方法で繋がることができ、私たちの経験は倍増しました。個人の理解を実現し、貴重なつながりをサポートする柔軟な方法は今後の研修でもぜひ取り入れて発展させていきたいです。 このプロジェクトと展覧会を可能にしたのは皆様の継続的な支援と好意です。私たちのコラボレーションを実りあるものにしてくれた皆様に感謝いたします。ラフバラ大学からのご挨拶Greetings from Loughboroughジュリー・ウォレス Julie WALLACEラフバラ大学 ファウンデーションコース長Programme DirectorArt & Design Foundation Studies, SDCALoughborough University
