Nowadays, in many parts of the world, ideas and thoughts of artists are allowed to be expressed and exhibited in public with the right of “Freedom of Expression”, however, there is a trend for sexual expression to be recognized as an obscenity even if its purpose is not for arousal, and for it to be regulated. This study considered what should be done to save honest sexual expression through some precedents of artists who have been threatened for their expressions. Those who put pressure on them did not try to understand the concepts of the artworks and what the artists were trying to convey. Furthermore, there are two types of regulation; severe criticism online, and public authority’s regulations. The outcomes were not all negative; one of the artists examined was evaluated fairly. In addition, a sexual expression-themed exhibition was held in an Asian gallery. Artists creating works are trying to call into question things we don't usually notice in order to increase diversity in society. We must recognize that sexual expression is not only for obscenity but also for issues of sexuality we will face in the future. Governments in each country have to concretely review considerations of obscenity and listen to claims of artists flexibly.
